An Invisible Corner called Blindspot

Have you ever heard about Blindspot? Apparently, some of you have been familiar with below test. So, let’s try this!

Close your right eye, bring your left eye sight in to the right side black dot. Just try focusing your left eye sight into the right black dot, give distance from your eye to the black dot about 15 cm. When you found out that the black dot disappeared, our test is success.
The question then is, why do the black dot disappear?
The disappearance of left side black dot in a certain distance could happen because of area called blindspot. Normally, every part of eyes behind the retina has so called photoreceptor cells containing rode and cone. However, when it is come to the blindspot, all those photoreceptor cells were not exists.
In vision process, light is entering our eyes through retina. Furthermore, light entering our eyes and it cause the photoreceptor cells to perceive the image and convert it into information that will be delivered to brain via optic disc. The optic disc is what so called as blindspot. This is the place where all the photoreceptor cells are conjoint and create an exit ways from the eyeball to our brain. In contrast, the exit ways were not sensitive and unable to perceive image.
Actually, the existence of blindspot is causing our vision to be imperfect. There is some part that invisible to our eyes. Since our brain interpolates the information from the left to right eye and there is filling in mechanism toward incomplete vision, we never really conscious about the blindspot existence. This mechanism is still working even when we close one of our eyes.
Until the Edme Marriote release first documented information about blindspot in 1660, the optic disc was believed to be the most sensitive part of our eyes. The theory was disproved then, when he did an experiment using a coin that disappeared because it placed in the blindspot area.

By all odds, you sure questioning on why we have such kind of blindspot thing? And perhaps you also thought that it would be better if there is no blindspot that enable us to see something perfectly.
I have a nice comparison to answer those grey inside your brain.
Basically, every vertebrate have so called blindspot in their eyes. But there is an exception to the cephalopod eyes, include of them squid, octopus, cuttle fish, etc. They have same camera eyes like we are in human, but they have no blindspot area. They claimed to be parallel evolution of the other vertebrate eyes.
Since there is no blindspot area, every part of cephalopod eyes has such kind of photoreceptor nerves. The eyes anatomy different between cephalopod and the rest of vertebrate was causing significant different in their vision ability. The cephalopod eyes have wider range of vision and more responsive toward the existence of prey and their predator. They can also differentiate polarized light.
Even though, the cephalopod eyes have wider range of vision, they unable to differentiate color. They only could distinguish between black and white through polarized light.
In contrast, vertebrate eyes include human can be able to distinguished color. Unlike the cephalopod, our eyes have rods and cone which can control light intensity entering our eyes.
The comparison was come up because cephalopod eyes were claimed to be evolution result from another vertebrate.
Along our life, many things are missed from our attention or sometimes we just ignored things. Many little things or even a huge one have been passed over like a flash. Whereas, it might be something that has change our perception of us seeing our life. It might also be something that influence our daily life and even the way we deal to our problems. Just like blindspot which we never conscious about.
Have you ever thought about the leftover we throw to the dustbin this morning? It perhaps could bring life for starving wildcat around your environment.
Have you ever thought what has been passed through by a people you are crazy on because of their achievement? Because you think they are great? The other side, they never show us?
Our life was imperfect and human is always imperfect. Like our eyes which is imperfect too as the existence of blindspot. Even until now the blindspot function is still like a mystery, it has purposed. Have you found out that the blindspot inhibit our vision? Our eyes are adjusting the restriction anyway.
Sure you guys confused. You sure questioning on why the explanation change instantly into the leftover in the dustbin and then life?
But, well.. That’s how our life suppose to be and how we created. Blinspot is only an example. Every part of us has its limit. Yet, is it being an obstacle? Or perhaps it just like blindspot, the compilation of nerves way out of eyeball?
Then, welcome and have a nice adventure in Blindspot8, because invisibility is not always empty. How if invisibility is a sure divinity? But is there any divinity? Or is it just another utopia as a dream of absolute liberty?

Think about this!

So that is our first actual article and it’s greatly written (in my opinion) by Kiky the girl writer that i mentioned before. Stay tuned for the next one brothers and sisters from a different mother :D
